It does exactly what it says. Different for combinations of stars and moon. Put the dome lid on to mute the colors, take it off to project the stars around the room. No dimmming switch. Had a button to spin. Battery or plug in for power.

Plenty of light modes, rotation toggle, and a nightlight cover for the top. Nightlight seems a bit bright but it's not a big deal.
Plug in and battery option I really like so I was able to move it around easily to find a good spot. I'd plug it in if I wanted to keep it in the same place but the batteries are more convenient for now.
